Fire destroys F.H. Goodyear’s Sizerville sawmill. (J. H. Beers pg 922)

1885 - August

M. P. Jones open a general store in Shippen, just north of Sizerville.

1887 - April

Mr. C.E. Grover of Emporium accepts a contract to build a large hotel at Sizerville for Messrs Green & Westcott of Westfield, Tioga County Pa.

Reported by Emporium Independent  on April 21, 1887 Note: Beers say Mr. Grover was from Port Allegany. (J.H. Beers pg 921)

P. H. Shumway, proprietor of the Sizerville Bottling Works, starts a bottling works at the least Sizerville mineral Spring.

1887/1888 winter

Buffalo, New York & Philadelphia Railway purchased by the Western New York and Pennsylvania Railroad. (Western New York Railroad Archive)

1888 - Spring

E.D. Sizer retires and W. R. Sizer builds a new store building.

1888

Construction on the Sizer Springs Hotel & Sanitarium begins on the 49 acre site.

October 18, 1889

Fire again destroys F.H. Goodyear’s Sizerville sawmill. Mrs. Bundy was killed in the fire. (J.H.Beers pg 922)

1889 - October 22

Sizer Springs Hotel destroyed. J.E. Green building owner, J.O Kilbourn, landlord/lesee.  Reported by Cameron County Press, October 24, 1899(?). Note: Dates need checking Beers states the  hotel fire on October 22, 1889. (J.H. Beers pg 921)
