1855 - January 26

W. R. Sizer born to E.D. and Louisa Sizer.  E.D. operated a store in Sizerville but it is not clear when that store was first built.

1860 - March 19

Cameron County was formed by an act of the Pennsylvania Assembly. It was formed from parts of Clearfield, Elk, Clinton, McKean and Potter Counties. Cameron County was named in honor of Simon Cameron who was the United States Senator from Pennsylvania at that time. Portage Township (Potter County) become part of Cameron County.   The Portage Township now found in Potter County is not the same one that existed prior to 1860.

1865

Sizer mineral water well created by J.G. Bryan and Co. when drilling for oil on land leased from Preston & Co. Land. The land was then known as the Cowley Farm (J.H. Beers pgs 870 & 921)

1871 - Feb 18

1871 - April 12

Name of Buffalo & Washington railway changed  to Buffalo, New York & Philadelphia Railway . Approval date & Effective date. (PRRT&HS)

1872

Railroad tracks built near Keating Summit. First Railroad in the area.

1872 - Dec.  23

Last rail laid on Buffalo, New York & Philadelphia Railway at Emporium. This is the rail line that ran/runs through Sizerville. (PRRT&HS)

1872 - Dec.  28

Buffalo, New York & Philadelphia Railway opens between Olean and Emporium completing new route from Buffalo to Philadelphia & Erie and Northern Central Rails. (PRRT&HS)

1873 - Jan 1 (est)

First day of service on the new Buffalo, New York & Philadelphia Railway. (PRRT&HS)

1873 - April

The Empire Line begins operating over  Buffalo, New York & Philadelphia Railway between Emporium and Buffalo. (PRRT&HS)

1873 - November 2

PRR inaugurates summer-only sleeping cars between Washington and Buffalo (via Emporium). (PRRT&HS)
